That choice still says some sad and upsetting things about Eddie's development from childhood to adulthood, but on the bright side, it at least lets Eddie not die a virgin like he did in the IT miniseries. For IT Chapter Two, director Andy Muschietti opted to make the similarities between Eddie's wife and mom more explicit, having them be literally identical, and played by the same actress. In the 1990 IT miniseries, this was addressed by removing Myra entirely, and just having a grown-up Eddie still living with his mother, who in the miniseries actually isn't overweight. Myra Kaspbarak is, like Sonia, both overweight and obsessively worried about Eddie. In the IT book, Eddie's wife is said to be a mirror image of his mother, who had passed away several years before Pennywise's battle with the adult losers. Much of his songwriting is influenced by these relationships, as well as his struggles with. He is recently out as a gay man and openly in a relationship with fellow band member Richie Tozier after his divorce from abusive partner Myra. It turns out though that this was done to better reflect Stephen King's intent for the two characters. Edward 'Eddie' Kaspbrak is a founding member of the Loser's Club and subsequently Shark Puppy. On the surface, this seems like a really odd, and kind of unsettling casting choice. She also plays Sonia again during an IT-induced hallucination involving Eddie's mom being held captive in the basement of the Derry pharmacy. Pennywise, shocked, offers his sympathy and leaves in embarrassment.Eddie's wife Myra is played in IT Chapter Two by actress Molly Atkinson, who also played Eddie's mom Sonia in the first IT. The Losers proceed to list what they face nowadays, including mortgages, back pain, and Eddie includes their own children. Beverly cuts the clown off, telling him to "shut up" and derides him, as they are all in their forties and none of them perceive Pennywise as a threat compared to what they face nowadays. As a child, Eddie was regarded as a fragile individual who was a hypochondriac. He idolizes Bill as the leader and attempts to follow his image when in difficult situations. Eddie is a part of the losers club, he is best friends with Bill Denbrough, Stanley Uris, Mike Hanlon, Ben Hanscom, Beverly Marsh, and Richie Tozier. In the segment based on It Chapter Two, Eddie is sitting in casual conversation with Beverly, Mike, and Richie when Pennywise bursts through the door to take revenge on them. Edward 'Eddie' Kaspbrak is a major character in IT Chapter One and Two. Pennywise is nothing compared to the horrors of adulthood. Eddie's death motivates The Loser's Club to defeat Pennywise once and for all. Eddie ends up causing damage to Pennywise, but is instantaneously killed by the monster, dying in Richie's arms. Eddie receives a call from Mike to return to Derry, where he reunites with the rest of the Loser's Club and each has individual encounters with Pennywise before facing off against Pennywise for one final time. The group seemingly defeats the clown and make an oath that if Pennywise returns, they will all return to Derry to defeat it once and for all.Īs an adult, Eddie becomes a risk analyst (or a limousine driver in the book) and ends up marrying a woman, Myra, who is very similar to his overbearing mother. The group eventually goes to face the clown, before which Eddie finally stands up to his mother. Each member has individual encounters with Pennywise the Dancing Clown, including one encounter that resulted in Eddie breaking his arm. He becomes friends with The Loser's Club members Bill Denbrough, Stanley Uris, Richie Tozier, as well as Ben Hanscom, Beverly Marsh and Mike Hanlon. He is played by Jack Dylan Grazer as a child in the first film and James Ransone as an adult in the sequel.Įddie's father died of cancer when he was young, resulting in his mother becoming strictly overbearing on her son, causing him to grow up to become a hypochondriac. Eddie Kaspbrak is one of the main characters in Stephen King's 1986 supernatural horror novel It, as well as its film adaptation It ( 2017) and its sequel It Chapter Two ( 2019).
