It is celebrated on November 1 (All Saints Day) and November 2 (All Souls Day) in Mexico and in some parts of Central and South America. The Brooks Museum and Cazateatro Bilingual Theater Group have partnered for the past 6 years to celebrate El Dia de Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. About Dia de los Muertosĭia de los Muertos is one of Mexico’s most celebrated holidays. If you bring a photo, please include an explanatory note and write your name on the back so we know who the photo belongs to. Please consider bringing a picture or memento of a deceased friend, relative or pet to add to the altar. This project was inspired by altar making traditions in Mexico for Day of the Dead but community and personal altars of remembrance are created all over the. Ofrendas honor those who have died by displaying pictures or other mementos of lost loved ones and decorating the altar. LaSA will display a large Dia de los Muertos ofrenda in the Oakland Franklin building lobby, Oct. ![]() The display features handmade shadow box altars made in memory of loved ones that have been created by members of the Madison-area community and. One of the main traditions connected with Dia de los Muertos is building private altars called ofrendas. Torres Mata is one of the organizers of the 2021 Da de los Muertos Community Altar Project that debuted on Thursday at the Overture Center of the Arts and will be on display until Sunday, Nov.
